This is a sample of some of the Audience Research i have done, i decided to ask Ten Members of the audience to write Five Facts about Islam and Five ways in which they feel the British Media Portrays Islam, the members of the audience that i asked were Five Muslims and Five Non - Muslims, i felt that this would give me an insight into what the Muslims already know about their own religion and how they feel their religion is being portrayed by the British Media and what the Non - Muslims know and what they are being shown and taught about Islam through the British Media.
The Muslims I have questioned seem to know quite a lot about Islam, however the Non – Muslims I have questioned do not seem to know very much about Islam, it also seems that both Muslims and Non – Muslims seem to agree that the British Media seems to be portraying Islam in a very negative way and the word ‘TERRORIST’ was used nine times by nine different people in the way both Non – Muslims and Muslims felt Islam was being portrayed by the British media, this suggests that the British Media institutions are representing Islam a negative image and is a good example of Cultural Imperialism.
In conclusion this tells me that Islam is being shown in a negative and wrong manner, which influences the publics views on Islam, they are not being shown the true Islam, my job is to produce a magazine, which is simple and full of facts based on Islam. This research has had an impact on my project because it has mapped out how huge the obsticle i face in attempting to change the negative images being portrayed by the world about Islam and to teach people the true details about such a beautiful, true and simple religion.
